All ideas that have been borrowed from references, any statistics and direct quotes must be referenced properly. The name and date of publication of the paper should be included when writing an in-text citation. For example, in APA, after stating the information, you can put an in-text citation after the end of the sentence, such as (Smith, 2021). If you are quoting directly from a source, include the page number in the citation, for example (Smith, 2021, p. 15). Remember to also include a corresponding reference list at the end of your paper that provides full details of each source cited in your text. An example paragraph highlighting the use of in-text citations is as below:
The integration of technology in nursing practice has significantly transformed patient care and improved health outcomes. According to Smith (2021), the use of electronic health records (EHRs) has streamlined communication among healthcare providers, allowing for more coordinated and efficient care delivery. Furthermore, Johnson and Brown (2020) highlight that telehealth services have expanded access to care, particularly for patients in rural areas, thereby reducing barriers to treatment.

How to Format the Reference List for NUR 630 Topic 2 DQ 1 Select the SOPS survey appropriate for the practice setting in which you work

If a source has no author, it should be alphabetized by the title of the work, ignoring any initial articles such as “A,” “An,” or “The.” If you have multiple works by the same author, list them in chronological order, starting with the earliest publication.
Each reference entry should include specific elements depending on the type of source. For books, include the author’s last name, first initial, publication year in parentheses, the title of the book in italics, the edition (if applicable), and the publisher’s name. For journal articles, include the author’s last name, first initial, publication year in parentheses, the title of the article (not italicized), the title of the journal in italics, the volume number in italics, the issue number in parentheses (if applicable), and the page range of the article. For online sources, include the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) or the URL at the end of the reference. An example reference list is as follows:

Example Approach to NUR 630 Topic 2 DQ 1 Select the SOPS survey appropriate for the practice setting in which you work
The agency for healthcare research and quality (AHRQ) outlines patient quality measures. It plays a huge role in evidence-based practices and quality improvement. AHRQ developed the Survey on Patient Safety Culture (SOPS) to help hospitals and care providers to assess the culture of patient safety in their facility (AHRQ, n.d.). The SOPS hospital surveys are curated for specific hospital settings. I am a registered nurse in a hospital setting, and thus I selected the Hospital SOPS survey. I mostly work in Emergency department observation and short stays. In section A, my clinical practice setting scored well. The most underperforming areas are inadequate staff to manage the workload and working longer hours than is best for patient care.
More so, it feels like individuals’ mistakes are also held against them in most cases. However, the unit is more proactive in managing patient problems, and the current staff works together as a team to reduce the workload burden and achieve the desired objectives. Section B the excellent clinical leadership and supports a patient safety culture. The scores in the third section, communication, the hospital also performs excellently in these units. The missed mistakes in the facility are hardly reported. In the last 12 months, 1 reported one patient safety event. The patient safety rating accorded is “very good.” The hospital’s culture of patient safety is good and could require some improvements.
The recommendation for improvement for the hospital is the creation of a staffing policy regulating the number of hours a nurse can work. Working long hours a day can cause significant patient safety issues hence the need for safe scheduling policies regulating the length of shifts (Cho & Steege, 2021). Another recommended change is the cross-training of staff to ensure adequate staff to work in the unit because of its nature.
Cross-training increases the number of nurses who can work in the unit and ensures the hospital has adequate staff in cases of shortages or increased workload despite the global nurses’ shortage (Stucky et al., 2020). The intervention is often used as a last resort to ensure the hospital is self-sufficient when external help is absent. Fencyl et al. (2021) note that professionals are important to consider when creating a safety culture in facilities. These interventions will increase the organizational patient safety scores.
