This essay should have 4 sections, answering the following questions:

1. To what extent do Canadians have a “legal right to health care”?
2. What are the legal issues around this question?
3. What sources of law are relevant to answering this question? 
4. What is the current status of the law on this question?

2. Critical Reflection.

Support your answers with reference to the course materials and the literature. Cite all sources used, and include a reference list.

Topics for Critical Reflection (choose 1):

1. Why is the legal regulation of health professions important? What competing interests must be balanced by regulatory bodies and governments? What are the implications of the absence of regulation on patients/the public, the health system, and the practitioners themselves?
2. Are distinctive legal regulatory models required for each type of health professional? Why or why not? In your opinion, what is the optimal mode of regulation?
